I’m Clarissa Alves, born on September 21, 2001, in the heart of the Bronx, New York. Now, I live in New Jersey with my wonderful husband, who is my rock, and our two wild, magical toddler daughters who remind me daily of the beauty and chaos of life.
I’m a wife, a mother, and a lover of life. My husband is my anchor, my safe place, and the steady rhythm in the background of all my adventures. Our daughters, with their boundless energy and free spirits, have taught me to live fully in the present, to surrender to the natural flow of life, and to find joy in the smallest moments. They are my greatest teachers.
When I’m not nurturing my family, I lose myself in the things that bring me joy. Music, movies, arts, and crafts have always been a part of my life. I have always been drawn to creativity and expression, finding beauty in handmade things and stories that move the soul. I am also deeply passionate about human rights, especially intactivism, children’s well-being, and the protection of reproductive and birth rights. I believe in the power of informed choice, respect for bodily autonomy, and the right of every person to receive the care and support they deserve.
Motherhood has been a transformative journey for me, filled with love, loss, and incredible resilience. Both of my daughters are rainbow babies, born after the pain of miscarriage. Through the heartbreak of recurring pregnancy loss, I learned just how sacred and fragile life is. My pregnancies were further complicated by hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a debilitating illness that goes far beyond morning sickness. It left me drained, struggling, and often feeling like I had lost control of my own body.
But I wasn’t alone. My doula was there, holding space for me when I felt powerless, reminding me that even in the hardest moments, my body carried deep wisdom. She supported me through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, offering unwavering care, comfort, and knowledge. Because of her, I became the first in my family to experience a vaginal birth and the first to breastfeed exclusively. Breastfeeding became such an important part of my journey that while nursing my own baby, I was able to donate over 10,000 ounces of breast milk to nourish others.
The love and guidance I received through my own experiences shaped my path forward. I knew I wanted to offer that same support to others, to walk alongside birthing people through the most raw, sacred, and transformative moments of their lives. Each birth I have attended has only deepened that calling, solidifying my passion for this work. There is nothing more humbling than witnessing the strength, power, and vulnerability of birth, and it is an honor to be a part of that journey
