At Moon Cradle Matrescence, I offer compassionate, evidence-based support to expectant families throughout the transformative experience of labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. Whether you’re planning a home birth, hospital birth, or birth center experience, I’m here to guide you through this sacred journey with love, respect, and unwavering support.
A birth doula is not a medical provider, but rather a trusted companion who offers emotional, physical, and informational support to the birthing person and their partner. My goal is to help you feel confident, informed, and empowered as you navigate this deeply personal experience.
A birth doula is a trusted companion through your pregnancy, labor, and birth. Think of us as your guide, confidant, and steady presence during this profound time. We are here to offer continuous emotional support, provide evidence-based information, and help you navigate the ups and downs of labor with confidence and grace.
A doula’s role is not to take over but to support you in a way that honors your journey and choices. I’ll help you connect with your body, work through discomfort, and empower you to make informed decisions. Your doula does not perform medical tasks, but offers invaluable continuous support and ensures your voice is heard throughout the birth process.
Whether you are having a hospital birth, home birth, or birthing center experience, I will meet you where you are and walk alongside you during this sacred time. You are not alone; I am here to offer guidance, comfort, and encouragement every step of the way.
Prenatal Support
Your birth support package includes two main prenatal visits, scheduled between 20-37 weeks of pregnancy. However, the number of prenatal visits will depend on when you begin my services and if you request more. If you begin your doula care earlier in pregnancy, we can schedule additional prenatal visits to ensure you feel fully supported leading up to your birth.
During our visits, we will take time to get to know each other, review your pregnancy, and explore your priorities, fears, or concerns about birth. As your doula, I will present evidence-based information on the risks and benefits of common interventions and procedures used during childbirth, helping you understand your options.
We will discuss your birth plan goals, the stages of labor, your desires and preferences for each stage, and techniques for coping with discomfort and fatigue. I will also help plan for your partner’s involvement in your labor.
The purpose of these prenatal visits is to leave you and your family feeling confident, well-informed, and empowered about labor and the choices you’ll have during it. You will also have unlimited phone and text support to reach out whenever you have questions or concerns, and after any appointments with your care provider, I can offer information, resources, advice, and practical preparation assistance.
Postpartum Support
After your baby is born, I will remain with you for up to 1-2 hours, helping you settle in and ensuring that you and your family have some quiet time together. I can also assist with your baby’s first feedings, if desired.
The postpartum package is included with the services and this includes 1 postpartum visit for uncomplicated vaginal birth and an additional visit for other outcomes.
During postpartum visits a few days later, I will check in with you and your family to offer guidance on feeding (if needed), recovery, infant care, and emotional well-being. You can share your birth experience and talk about any emotional healing or transition to parenthood. I will be there to offer suggestions and ensure you’re feeling supported and nourished. These visits are usually 2hrs.
My goal is to help you feel empowered as you adjust to your new role as a parent, honoring your emotional and physical recovery. Additional postpartum visits can be scheduled beyond the included visits if desired.
Limitations of Service
It’s important to note that a birth doula does not perform medical tasks. This includes monitoring blood pressure, fetal heart rate, performing cervical exams, or any other clinical procedures. A doula does not provide medical care or make decisions for you. Instead, we offer the information and emotional support you need to make your own informed decisions about your care. I will help you communicate your needs and concerns with your care providers and empower you to advocate for yourself.
Additionally, a doula does not provide transportation to or from the hospital or birth center, nor do we take primary responsibility for childcare. You, your partner, or another responsible adult must be present during labor and our meetings.
Community Based Pricing
As a community-based doula, I believe that every family deserves care, regardless of financial circumstances. If cost is a concern, let’s work together to find a price or payment plan that best fits your needs. Sliding scale options and payment plans are available.
